| We
are really pleased to announce the arrival at Fenacre of
Ellie Mae, Littlethorn Starlet. We intend, as we did with Holly, to
take Ellie Mae virtually everywhere we go (within reason). The effect this
had on Holly was wonderful as she took to absolutely
everything & everyone and we would really like to continue this with
Ellie. Fingers crossed that she, as Littlethorn Starlet, will grow up to be a 'Star'. Over these past few months Ellie has made steady progress and is proving to be quite a little character. She is very responsive and is such a quick learner, especially when it's something she shouldn't really be doing ! She is still going out virtually everywhere with us and we feel that this has had a positive effect on her confidence. There doesn't seem too much that she gets worried about (fingers crossed). We are so looking forward to bring her out in the new year, but until then we will keep our fingers crossed. Ellie Mae has started her show career on a slow note but is improving with each class. At her very first open show, she was placed 2nd in puppy but she really pleased us by behaving very well. This was followed a week later by another 2nd place (to the same dog !) at her second open show. She is now settling in comfortably to the show routine and we're hoping that she'll soon get that 1st place. Well, it finally happened at her third open show - her very first 1st place in puppy - here's to many more to come ! Following on from her first season Ellie was shown at Southern Counties Championship Show (all breeds) and pleased a lot of people by getting a 2nd place in Puppy Bitch and thereby qualifying for Cruft's 2011. Ellie behaved herself on the stand, moved extremely well and was only beaten by the puppy who was eventually awarded the Reserve Bitch CC and Best Puppy in Breed. At Windsor Championship show Ellie again performed very well and was placed 2nd to her litter sister in her last Puppy class. Now we're up with the bigger girls ! A good day for Ellie at the BCC of GB Open show at Newark on 19th September 2010 when she came away with two 1st's (Junior and Maiden) and a 2nd (Novice). A wonderful start to 2011 when, at her first champ show of the year (Manchester), she took 2nd place in Special Yearling and qualified for Cruft's 2012. Now that really does take the pressure off ! And Ellie repeated that success by taking 2nd place at the Midland Border Collie Club Champ show held on 5th February. |
